Job Introduction

A Process Support Team member provides general process support and operates plant and machinery in support of laboratory or customer planned activities, whilst working within the safety envelope and ensuring compliance with all regulations and procedures. Taking direction from their appointed Task Supervisor to conduct work safely and securely ensuring high standards and expectations are maintained.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in working in a regulatory environment, be detail oriented, and able to work to stringent deadlines

Main Responsibilities

  • Provision of specified process support services to internal / external customers to agreed standards associated with the ROC Contract.
  • Work effectively within the Central Lab Process Team providing a service to include plant and equipment operations and undertaking work in support of project deliverables (specifically ROC Contract) and waste reduction programmes.
  • Operate specialist equipment e.g. crane, forklift truck, MEWP etc. under their SQEP remit to ensure production activities and movements of material etc. meet integrated plan targets for project deliverables.
  • Provide a specialist lifting and slinging service within their SQEP remit as required on any tasks or projects they are assigned to, whilst maintaining standards for safety, security and quality e.g. movement of transport packages on stillages
  • Carry out reassurance health physics monitoring ensuring radiological safety within area of responsibility.
  • Where appropriate, assist in training and development of others to agreed standards.
  • Be flexible and available to transfer between NNL facilities as requested – specifically between Central, Windscale and Workington Labs.
  • Maintain and increase SQEP levels as necessary in order to safely and securely carry out their daily duties.
  • Provide a handyman service during project down times that falls within their core skill knowledge base, including such things as painting, roof cleaning, light bulb changes etc. whilst maintaining standards for safety, security and quality. 

Specifically, in support of the ROC Contract, a requirement to become appointed as: 

  • SQEP PCM Process Operator
  • Crane Operator
  • Forklift Truck Operator
  • Banksman
  • Rigger/Slinger
  • Security Warden 

General requirements for a Process Support team member include:

  • ADR (Dangerous Good Driver) as applicable
  • Gas Bottle/Regulator Operator as applicable
  • Cryogenic Operator as applicable
  • Ladder Inspector as applicable
  • MEWP Operator as applicable
  • Lifting Supervisor as applicable
  • Safety Harness wearer and/or Inspector as applicable
  • Confined Space Supervisor
  • Confined Gas Space Tester as applicable
  • REPA Controller as applicable
     

The Ideal Candidate

Criteria for Process Support Team Member:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s
  • Driving licence essential, forklift and crane licence desirable
  • IOSH Managing safely
  • Ability to work both within a team environment and alone
  • Must be able to gain P4 pass and Developed Vetting (DV) clearance
  • Ability to become a monitored or classified worker as appropriate.
  • Must be self-motivated.
