Job Introduction

This Project Manager will be responsible for the delivery of the Legacy Waste project delivered on behalf of the NDA. This involves scoping and managing work at Windscale site, including active areas within B13.

Responsible for the successful delivery of project related work including the establishment of project execution strategies; management of project teams within an operational plant and the safe and secure delivery of projects in a highly challenging process environment. All work to be delivered to time, cost and quality to achieve customer satisfaction.

Candidates must be able to work under their own initiative and present a credible presence when delivering work in an active plant environment. Successful delivery of the Legacy Waste contract requires the PM to understand the work control process and be able to draw out and communicate the key deliverables for the project against competing process demands.

Main Responsibilities

Delivery of projects in a safe manner to the specified functional criteria, goals, and objectives compliant with all relevant client, NNL, regulatory and legal assurance requirements.

Management and co-ordination of reporting across Legacy Waste work packages, delivery of detailed monthly projects reports, including NDA customer reports. Delivery of updates and weekly briefs at the Windscale Integrated Delivery Meeting (IDM), ensuring that agreed actions are acted upon to achieve the best result for the project.

Engagement, management and motivation of a competent, effective and integrated project team, including Project Engineers, Planners and process team members. Manage the delivery of work on behalf of the NDA customer, ensuring the best safety and quality standards are maintained.

Inputting into the bid / sales process as required and assisting in the preparation and coordination of NNL proposals and submissions.

Provision of leadership, coaching, and support to other project team members as required.

Development, maintenance, and management of project execution procedures, and control documentation in line with the NNL PMA project delivery framework to ensure that all work is delivered safely within approved project baseline, scope, cost, schedule and quality constraints.

Effective communication and dissemination of project information to the required stakeholders on time and at the appropriate level.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Skills/Experience

Project Management professional qualification (e.g. APMP, Diploma APM, IPMA Level D) or working towards.

Relevant experience in a highly regulated project management / delivery role.

Demonstrable track record of successfully leading and delivering large complex projects in a nuclear processing environment.

Experience of using typical project management tools, processes & software.

Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite (Incl. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project / EPM).

Experience of different contracting models, involving the management of commercial risks.

Experience in managing active area work and understanding of the process to permission work within an active facility.

Experience of producing project reports including detail on relevant delivery milestones, which are specifically tailored towards a variety of different audiences.

Proven ability to effectively and efficiently communicate to a variety of stakeholders across the business.

Desirable Skills/Experience

Ability to utilise project scheduling software for the purposes of controlling and monitoring project works, e.g. MS Project, EPM, Primavera P6, etc.

Demonstrable financial acumen and experience of using financial monitoring & performance tools / processes.

Knowledge of NDA contracts and experience of working with KPI driven contracts.

Understanding of the Safety Case process and experience of producing or managing the production of PMPs for NNL active plant.

Experience of overcoming delivery challenges within the Windscale Active Handling Facility, including engaging key stakeholders across the range of business delivery functions that utilise this facility.
