Job Introduction

The role of the Data & Applications Architect is a combined role that provides the opportunity to design and deliver solutions, and act as TDA for all development in the NNL. In addition, they will manage the standards for Data and Applications, producing Reference Architecture, Designs, Roadmaps and Rearchitecting Applications and Data Services for Azure.

Main Responsibilities

Responsible for the NNL’s Application and Data Architecture.

TDA for architectural escalations and guidance from the Applications Team.

Autonomy to design HLD’s, Design Patterns and Reference Architectures.

Responsible for the production of Road Maps and Target State Architectures.

Jointly accountable with the Architects to map Business Capabilities, Processes, Apps, Components, Interfaces and Data.

Responsible for rearchitecting Apps, SQL, Data Warehouses and Reporting platforms for Azure.

Evangelist for good data management and informed decision making through the design, implementation and adoption of the NNL Data Warehouse.

Decision maker for reporting and dashboarding with the capability to design and deliver excellent MI and BI.

Eliciting requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, and business analysis.

 

The Ideal Candidate

Demonstrable experience in a similar Architecture role.

Strong software development skills, using numerous modern and scripting languages.

Strong experience in EDW architectures, ETL, analytical tools and reporting.

Demonstrable experience in Azure and rearchitecting services for cloud delivery.

Strong experience in SQL, R, and PowerBI or QlikView.

Experience of Application Lifecycle Management and Application Portfolio Management.

Good understanding and certification (or working towards) industry standards, Enterprise and Solutions Architecture, TOGAF, ITIL, APM and Cloud Architecture Technical Certifications.

Excellent analytical, conceptual thinking, planning and execution skills.
