Job Introduction

The Project Manager is responsible for delivering projects that underpin the NNL Strategy in line with agreed scope, quality, time and cost.

Main Responsibilities

Responsible for delivering projects in line with agreed scope, quality, time and cost.

Responsible for directing and coordinating activities of the project team to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget

Prepare and present standard project management artefacts such as project initiation documentation, project plans, risk and stakeholder’s matrices and business cases.

Accountable for budgets and decisions within agreed project thresholds.

Supportive in the analysis of project proposals alongside solution architects to determine time frame, budget, risk, and the appropriate process for accomplishing projects.

Accountable for the identification and scheduling of project deliverables, milestones and required activities and tasks.

Responsible for the creation and maintenance of resourced project plans

Responsible for risk management – including risk assessments and the implementation of mitigation plans.

Responsible for the management of senior stakeholders as part of project boards or project activities

Accountable for accurate project reporting to project stakeholders.

Responsible for service acceptance and the hand over projects to business as usual, ensuring that project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives, preparing close out reports and final sponsor approval.

Develop a thorough understanding of the current IT solutions and work with key stakeholders in the business to identify new requirements or opportunities for improvement.

Work with key stakeholders to develop business cases to support the proposed solution. 

Responsible for the co-ordination of the business governance processes – for example Management of Change.

The Ideal Candidate

Track record of delivering projects to time, cost and quality.

Strong stakeholder management skills and effective communicator.

Self-motivated, proactive and customer focused with excellent organisational skills.

Experience in business analysis and requirement definition

Knowledge of project governance frameworks, planning tools, IT service processes (ITIL) and best practices.

Good working knowledge of technical IT disciplines

Familiar with project management methodologies (for example, PMI, Prince II and Agile)

Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence

Have experience managing multiple stakeholders and external suppliers within a single project.

Demonstrable blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills, as this is a highly visible position with substantial impact

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; expertise in setting and managing customer expectations

Extensive previous project management experience;

Experience of managing both business and IT projects within a secure environment is desirable.

Experience of project procurement within government frameworks is desirable

Be eligible for security clearance to SC level.

Willingness to travel to other UK locations and a full UK Driving licence
