Job Introduction

NNL is not like any other business, and our Apprenticeships are like no other. Our Apprentices are our future, which is why we have a dedicated apprentice programme which supports our apprentices in their personal development whilst they are completing their apprenticeship.

To welcome you into the business, all our NNL apprentices join a 3-day induction programme. This will give you an understanding of the business, the programme you will follow and what we’ll expect from you during your apprenticeship. Following your induction, you’ll be supported through your apprenticeship journey focusing on personal development. This covers a range of skills from time management to team working. We’ll learn about you together.

We even have a dedicated apprentice Advisor who is there to ensure that you are settling into your apprenticeship at NNL, both in the workplace and at College.

Main Responsibilities

Our Craft Mechanics specialise in the maintenance, and occasional manufacture, of all mechanical equipment to ensure optimum and consistent performance levels. Mechanical craftspeople are highly skilled and can work in a wide variety of industries and sectors with complex plant and equipment.

Following your first year at the training school you will then join the NNL Craft team and attend College on a day release basis.

Main Responsibilities include

  • Manufacturing components
  • Assembling and installing machinery
  • Continuing maintenance of equipment
  • Working with precision and accuracy
  • Approaching work logically and with a thorough attention to detail
  • Interpreting drawings and diagrams
  • Diagnosing and fault-finding problems with machinery and equipment
  • Co-operating with colleagues to ensure work is carried out to a high standard

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll already have a good academic background when you apply for an apprenticeship with us. You should have attained or be on track to achieving 5 GCSE's A-C (New Grading 9-4) including Maths & English.

NNL RECOGNISES THE UNCERTAINY THAT HAS ARISEN REGARDING THE GOVERNMENT’S DECISION TO CANCEL EXAMS IN 2021 AND TO PUT IN PLACE ALTERNATIVE ASSESSMENTS. THIS WILL BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION THROUGHOUT OUR APPRENTICE RECRUITMENT AND ASSESSMENT PROCESS.

We’re looking for people who can be part of our future. People who want to succeed and have the commitment and motivation to get there. People who ask questions and demand answers, who’ll be open to learning and work hard.

Applicants must be 16 or over. Due to the nature of our work we can only accept applications from those who have held UK residency for the last 5 years
