Job Introduction

The Applications Manager role is responsible for all Enterprise Applications and the Applications Support Team, including ERP. They will be managing the lifecycle of each application, understanding business change requests, team management, prioritising activities and overseeing the required configuration changes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage Enterprise Applications lifecycle, upgrades or configuration changes in line with good industry practice and NNL governance processes.
  • Prioritising workloads and resource management for the Applications Team.
  • Lead the appropriate steering groups for Enterprise Applications such as Business World.
  • Represent Applications Team where needed on the CAB for changes and ARB for new designs. 
  • Develop appropriate dev, test and QA procedures for each Application Service.
  • Work with the Apps and Data Architect in defining Applications roadmaps and lifecycle.
  • Support the creation of Service Transition documents required for Enterprise Applications.
  • Provide development, coaching, mentoring and line management for the Applications team.
  • Lead NNL’s “shift-left” methodology for Enterprise Applications to upskill the ITSD.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced Applications Manager and team leader. 
  • Understand complex business and application environments and interdependencies. 
  • Strong understanding of SDLC’s and practical experience of when to apply each.
  • Experience in one of more modern development language and database technology.
  • Good understanding of MS SQL and .NET technologies and administration. 
  • Strong analytical skills applied to understanding business functionality and translating them into application requirements.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and changing business requirements.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and customer focused with excellent organisational skills.
